The whole bandwagon thing... It has come to my attention more than usual lately so I may as well post about it. Some people are bummed out and think I've hopped on the ol' minimal bandwagon but this isn't really the case. Enemy Records, the website, and the mixes serves as more of a side project for me. This side project is focusing on more of a crossover sound, fusing minimal, progressive, techno, and house elements together to try and do something new.
The "Enemy Mixes" I do for the website are far different than something I would put out on say, Abiotic Recordings. These are meant to be conceptual club mixes that combine all sorts of influences together to try and create a unique listening experience. In the coming months, I will be doing something similar for the Abiotic website, which will feature an 80 minute long mix of hard techno, experimental, industrial, house music, and more. I would have done this sooner but I'm having a really hard time finding new hard techno records (that are actually good).
The days where I play an hour of just one kind of techno are over. I really want to expand upon my sound and create a well-rounded listening experience. I'm finally getting to the point where I want to be but the unfortunate trade off is that I cannot please everybody. The stuff is usually too soft for the hard techno heads, and too hard for the minimal kids. As for future releases, the schedule is filling up with both hard techno and softer techno releases. (I'd say minimal but it's not) ¶ Wednesday, October 25, 2006
More crap to buy on Beatport! If your credit card is maxed out, now may be a good time to skip our site and head straight to your bookmarked free porn sites...
still there? Great! Enemy Records is now on Beatport! You can view the Enemy catalog on Beatport by clicking here. The first release up for offering is Silentpaul's "Hoarding Various." We asked Paul if he had anything to say but all he did was send a reply quoting a bunch of Tourette's Guy stuff. Anyway, Zahn and Eidolon's "Illusinations" will be available on Beatport in about two weeks...so the whole four of you who actually care need to sit tight! The vinyl release should fall around the same time or a week or two after. During the holiday break, we'll reissue Dustin Zahn's "1984" on Beatport, and the new year will kick into full blast with Enemy004 and 005, as well as some upcoming limited edition Enemy releases with the clever catalog name of NME001. That's all for now, one yo' delf! ¶ Friday, October 13, 2006
